Aplin could be set for another US adventure with Hammersly Lake
There was a sad end to Sharp Rise's adventures in the US last year but his owner Robert Aplin is ready for the sequel with Hammersly Lake, who was a dominant winner of the feature £25,000 handicap chase under Brian Hughes.
The Charlie Longsdon-trained Sharp Rise finished third in the American Grand National last October but sadly died in the US the following month due to complications after a course of antibiotics.
Hammersly Lake's stateside trip is not assured, with Aplin saying: "I need to talk to Brian, I need to speak to Charlie, I need to speak to my wife, and I need to speak to the US end."
