'I'm so pleased for them' - Maple Jack rewards patient owners with success

Julie Camacho's string is in fine form and Maple Jack added to her recent successes with a comfortable victory in the 6f handicap.

The four-year-old, who had only one win to his name and had failed to score on his two previous appearances over course and distance, found plenty after getting to the front a furlong from home.

Steve Brown, Camacho’s husband and assistant trainer, believes the victory is just reward after a “frustrating summer” for the son of Mayson.

“He’s a horse who likes to get his toe in the ground and Graham Lee, who’s ridden him on his last three starts, said he felt like a different horse today,” said Brown.

“We’ve had him down as quite a talented boy at home and that’s why we’ve asked the owners to be patient. I’m so pleased for them that they’ve seen what he’s capable of doing when he gets his conditions.”

Mulrennan and Goldie treble

Paul Mulrennan and Jim Goldie completed a 158-1 treble after Aighear stuck her neck out in the closing 1m7f handicap to come out on top in a photo-finish.

Aighear, which means 'joy' in Scots Gaelic, stole the joy from Scottish Dancer and Socially Shady by a nose and a head.

Goldie and Mulrennan earlier took the feature 7f handicap with Abduction before Classy Al struck with another run from off the pace in the second division of the 7f handicap.
