Galileo filly Noon Star begins season with Nottinghamshire Oaks success
Tuesday: Nottingham
Noon Star fought back to win the Listed 1m2f Nottinghamshire Oaks Stakes for the partnership of Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore. In the famous Juddmonte silks, the four-year-old justified favouritism at 8-11 to beat Technique by a head in the feature.
Despite a 313-day break, the Musidora Stakes runner-up showed her class to secure a third win from six starts.
Barry Mahon, general manager of Juddmonte for Ireland and Europe, said: "We were delighted to make her a stakes winner because she is a Galileo filly out of Midday and has an unbelievable pedigree.
"Thankfully the Abdullah family decided to keep her in training as a four-year-old and that has been vindicated. She picked up a little injury after Ascot last year, which kept her off the track for the remainder of her three-year-old career. She looked to be on an upward curve before having a very rough passage in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot.
"The time away has done her good, she has improved and hopefully she'll progress from here."
James Savage, assistant to Stoute, added: "It was nice to start her season with a Listed win. She's entered in the Middleton Stakes at York, but we'll have to see how she comes out of this race."
Marble takes to turf
Miss Marble returned to winning ways in the 1m½f fillies handicap under Silvestre de Sousa.
The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained four-year-old was making her debut on turf following five starts on the all-weather, and registered her third win.
