Who doesn't love a grey? Trainer quotes for the Grey Horse Handicap

The Grey Horse Handicap: always a great spectacle

Saturday: 3.18 Newmarket
Grey Horse Handicap | 6f | 3yo+ | ITV4/RTV

Stuart Williams has yet to win this contest but has hit the post three times in the past and is doubly represented with Lord Rapscallion and Revolutionise in a bid to put things right.

He said: "Both of mine have chances, although they are really seven-furlong horses.

"Lord Rapscallion is a frustrating character. He's got the ability to win but getting his head in front is proving difficult. He was third in the Bunbury Cup last year and that sort of form in this type of race should be good enough to win it.

"Revolutionise is not an easy character but Marco [Ghiani] gets on well with him. He's gone down a lot in the weights and we are now trying something different by going back to six furlongs with him. He's another coming back in trip but I think six furlongs is fine for him as he's got plenty of speed."

Mick Appleby won this race in 2017 and 2019 with the same horse, Case Key, but this time around he relies on recent all-weather winner Come On Girl.

He said: “She won well last week. This is a tougher race but she's in good form. She's probably slightly better on the all-weather but hopefully she can translate that form to the turf here and if she can she will go well off a light weight.

"I don’t think the track should be any problem, nor the quick ground."
