Snowfall was unable to do anything out of the ordinary at two, now she's a shorter price than Enable was to win the Juddmonte Irish Oaks at three.
Few would have banked on Snowfall being forecast to arrive on the hottest day of the summer, with temperatures at the Curragh set to soar to 26 degrees. It has been an extraordinary year, but perhaps the most unusual thing of all, certainly in this glorious sport of ours, is the riches-to-rags-and-back-to-riches tale of the daughter of Deep Impact.
Enable lost just one of her first 14 races, Snowfall lost six of her first seven. Most people were shocked when she challenged Pretty Gorgeous and Indigo Girl inside the final furlong of the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket, eventually finishing third and beaten just two lengths. It looked as though she had turned inside out but, as it transpired, she had just turned into Mother Earth.
