Just seven days after the exciting Secret Reprieve treated us to an exemplary round of precision jumping and relentless pounding through deep mud in Chepstow’s Welsh Grand National, the ITV4 cameras will focus on another of jump racing’s marathon chases, the McCoy Contractors Civil Engineering Classic Handicap Chase (3.00) at Warwick.

The £50,000 contest has a reputation for serving up some thrilling finishes; who could possibly forget Rigadin De Beauchene’s storming run from the final fence under Robbie Dunne to gun down Godsmejudge in the final strides to score by half a length in 2013?

It is also renowned as a significant pointer to the Grand National, with 2017 winner One For Arthur going on to land the world’s most famous race for Lucinda Russell three months later.
