This year's July Cup at Newmarket attracted a top-class line-up. Five Group 1 winners went to post and Dragon Symbol had finished first past the post in another, but none could lay a glove on Starman, who weaved through traffic and turned it into a one-horse race.

The Racing Post's handicappers were sufficiently impressed to rate Starman alongside several of the best winners of the race in the last decade and only Ten Sovereigns (125 in 2019) got a higher figure than Starman’s 124 in that time, so how good could Starman be?
