All you need to start your day including going from all the tracks
A race of no small pool and even greater significance takes place at Yarmouth on Wednesday – an optional claimer (7.15).
Six will race for a first prize of £19,400 in a race which, though a mainstay in certain jurisdictions, is a novelty in Britain. This is the first in a ten-race trial series and there is a useful primer here.
Yarmouth is backed up in the evening by Wolverhampton, Killarney and Fairyhouse. The British afternoon action comes from Uttoxeter, Catterick and Lingfield, with the jumps card arguably the strongest.

Final thought
It is to be hoped that initial trepidation is the reason behind just six declarations in the optional claimer, which carries a purse of £30,000. The benefits apply at both ends. Rarely can any horse rated in the low-80s race for such money, and even the highest rated (top-weight Raucous is off 99) will rarely see such races that are not searingly competitive.
