Would you honestly have run Baaeed in the Arc if he were yours? I think not
We are now a week into autumn, with the equinox having passed last Friday, and with that come thoughts of the jumps season. But before we consider whether Constitution Hill can beat Honeysuckle, or if Henry de Bromhead will again dominate the Cheltenham Gold Cup, let's consider a more pressing topic: should Baaeed have gone for the Arc?
Ten years ago we were asking the same question about Frankel, and I was curious to know whether in 2012 there was the same desire for a seemingly unbeatable superstar to head to Longchamp.
The Racing Post once had a feature called Monday Jury. One of the questions in that feature following Frankel's Juddmonte victory was, 'If he were yours, would Frankel run in the Arc or the Champion Stakes?'. Of the five jurors, one opted for the Champion Stakes, two for the Arc and the other two were undecided.
