A morning of Indian racing surely can't be the grown-up way to punt
I'm Peter and I'm a responsible gambler. I'm a middle-aged man with a family, for God's sake, and I can't afford to be an irresponsible gambler. The time for betting like a banana passed a few decades ago, along with slim-fit shirts and recreational drugs, and I feel all the better for it, while retaining a large degree of sympathy for those who find it less easy to make the decision when they really need to.
At least now, the atmosphere countrywide is conducive to being sensible. Even the bookmakers are onside, after a little bit of kicking, screaming and tail-swishing.
