Kalashnikov may have lost his shoe in battle but he can win the war at festival

There are many benighted parts of the world where you are not properly dressed if you go out your front door of a morning without your trusty Kalashnikov.

Across disturbing amounts of Africa and the more vexed zones of the middle and near east, toting an AK-47 is the equivalent of wearing a watch, although the world's most ubiquitous assault rifle calls time in a somewhat final manner.

When first spotting there was a horse in training called Kalashnikov there was an initial feeling this was a minor lapse in taste.
