It rained on her parade and it rained on her procession but Enable, the queen of the King George, still reigns. The only real sadness is so few people are able to say they got soaked seeing history made at Ascot.

Never before had only three runners contested the prize around which the summer of European Flat racing has for so long revolved.

Never before, though, had a horse won that magnificent showpiece three times.
