Chris Waller admits he's been looking for negatives when it comes to the world's best horse but cannot find a thing that would suggest she's taken a step back.

And even Winx's seventh-placing in Monday morning's trial at Rosehill wasn't going to deter he and connections from smiling.

"Everyday [around the stable] I am looking for negative body language but I don't see it," Waller explained on Monday.

"I am looking for her pinning her ears back when people walk into her stable, I don't see it.

"I'm just looking for a happy horse and I do see it.

"It was good to see her get on her toes this morning [before the trial] and know she was alive, she knows when to switch on in terms of getting on her toes.

"Even when Hughie gave her a little squeeze at the hundred, she just started to charge through the line and pulling up she was ready to go another lap.

"All in all I'm pretty happy after the trial... she went well, I went well and Hughie went well.

"Obviously she didn't figure in the first three but that was never the plan, the plan was to get around safely."

Waller confirmed Winx will head back to the trials in around ten to 14 days time before she runs first-up in the Winx Stakes (formally known at Warwick Stakes) on August 18.

After that, Waller says no plans have been made and stated an early Melbourne appearance has every chance of coming to fruition.

"There's a host of different races [where she can go to next]," said Waller.

"As we saw last preparation, we threw in an extra race when she ended up in the Turnbull Stakes in Melbourne and the year before she raced in the Caulfield Stakes so we'll keep all those options open."

Also supposed to be in action on Monday's barrier trials was star sprinter Chautauqua but once again the grey refused to leave the stalls, much to the disappointment of jockey Tommy Berry.
