'He's got it all' - Real World enjoys sensational start to season in Dubai
Friday: Meydan
Godolphin's Real World made an impressive winning return at Meydan, with success in the Zabeel Mile his fifth in a row and continuing his rapid rise up the ranks.
Real World went from winning the Royal Hunt Cup to a Group 2 on Arc day last season, and his progression showed no signs of stopping as he cruised into contention and kicked clear under Danny Tudhope.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained five-year-old led a 1-2-3-4 for Godolphin with Alfareeq getting closest to the winner, beaten two and a half lengths.
"He's a proper horse," Tudhope said. "He's big and powerful, he's got it all. That was his first run after a few months and just a stepping stone to bigger and better targets. He galloped strongly to the line and the further I was going, the better."
Frankie Dettori was due to ride Real World, but he tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
One to watch
Siskany emerged as a force to be reckoned with in his four-year-old season as he bolted clear in the Al Khail Trophy, winning by five and a half lengths.
Last season's Old Rowley Cup winner appeared to have improved massively on his first run in 2022, leaving James Doyle excited about the season ahead.
The jockey said: "Once he found a bit of room he excelled in the straight, he picked up well and galloped through the line really good. He showed that good kick and, at this type of distance, that turn of foot should stand him in good stead."
Easy winner
Shahama justified short odds to land the UAE 1,000 Guineas, and extend her unbeaten run to three for Bahraini trainer Fawzi Nass.
