Choux keeps the ball rolling for in-form David Evans with Listed strike

David Evans celebrated an across-the-card four-timer in Britain on Friday and his team shows no sign of slowing down after Choux overhauled her Listed rivals to score in the Listed Prix Yacowlef.

The subject of a notable gamble when landing a Thirsk maiden on her debut, Choux has since been swimming in deep waters and showed determination inside the final furlong to get the job done under Maxime Guyon.

"She did it nicely," said Evans. "It probably would have been a bit easier if she had been drawn near the rail but she battled on well. She goes on soft ground but I think today was a far weaker race than the last two she ran in.

"She ran very well in the Queen Mary and looked like she wanted another furlong. I don't think the ground or the track suited her at Newmarket and she couldn’t really dominate. She's only little and she got squeezed up."

With travelling staff still extremely difficult for British yards due to the combination of quarantine restrictions and Brexit, Evans had to hand over the filly to the same third-party transport team that Kevin Ryan used when Atomic Force struck in the Prix du Bois.

Evans added: "I haven’t got any plans with her. She’s done her bit and won her race so the owner will breed from her. But I wouldn't be averse to going back to France."

Harrington on scoresheet

Travelling is more realistic, if not straightforward, for Irish staff and jockeys and along with Ken Condon's victory in the feature Prix Jean Prat, Jessica Harrington got on the scoresheet thanks to Loch Lein in the 7f Listed Prix Amandine.

Stephane Pasquier conjured a powerful finish out of the Invincible Spirit filly, who has kept decent company in recent starts over six furlongs.

Promising Zellie remains unbeaten

The horse to make the biggest impression on the card was the Andre Fabre-trained filly Zellie, who breezed to a third straight success in the Prix Roland de Chambure in the colours of the trainer's daughter Lavinia.

A first attempt at seven furlongs proved no barrier and it would be no surprise were Zellie to enter the conversation for the Marcel Boussac come Arc weekend.
