Best Solution bids to break his Group 1 duck at the sixth time of asking in Germany on Sunday when he faces six rivals in the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten.

The four-year-old comes into the race off the back of an impressive success in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at the July meeting. Pat Cosgrave always looked to be keeping Mirage Dancer and Ryan Moore at arm's length in the final furlong of the mile-and-a-half contest, and Best Solution had half a length to spare at the line.

The Newmarket Group 2 victory was arguably a career-best from the Saeed Bin Suroor-trained colt and Mirage Dancer franked the form by winning at Goodwood last week.

Bin Suroor has won this for owners Godolphin three times before, with Mutafaweq in 2000, Marienbard in 2002 and Campanologist in 2010.

He said: “Best Solution has been working very well and is in good form, and I'm expecting him to run well. The distance should suit him. If he can win at Hoppegarten then the option of Melbourne becomes a reality. I will talk to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed before finalising plans."

Last year's winner, the Markus Klug-trained Dschingis Secret, took the Group 2 Grosser Hansa-Preis at Hamburg last time out and will be partnered by Adrie de Vries. Reopposing stablemate Windstoss was fourth at Hamburg, having previously finished third behind Cracksman in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.

Royal Youmzain receives weight from all his rivals as the sole three-year-old in the race. He started favourite for the German Derby last month and ran well enough to be third.
