'I thought I made a mistake' - Karl Burke gets rewarded with Jungle Time success

A risk by Karl Burke paid off in full after Jungle Time picked up her maiden victory under Saffie Osborne in the 5f novice stakes.

The Yorkshire trainer considered running Yahsat, who won at Pontefract earlier in week, in Musselburgh's opening race but chose to stick by Jungle Time and was rewarded with a two-length success.

"I was going to run the filly that won on Wednesday, and it opened up an opportunity for Jungle Time to take her chance," Burke said.

"It worked out nicely in the end. I thought I was being clever by taking on horses that haven't run, but I heard a couple were strongly fancied and I thought I made a mistake.

"She is by Jungle Cat, who was a fast horse and sold off in Australia. I have two of them, the other is called Miss Jungle Cat, and they've both won already, so he is obviously a stallion that can get them."

The two-year-old struck on the second attempt to add to an already impressive spell for Osborne, who has won on three of her last five rides.

Terrific treble for Dalgleish

South Lanarkshire trainer Keith Dalgleish scored an impressive 262-1 treble, headlined by El Picador winning the feature 1m4½f handicap.

Ayr Empress opened the trainer's account after the four-year-old secured a first win since June when pulling away from joint-favourite Antagonize in the 1m1f handicap.

The Thin Blue Line quickly followed suit to win the 5f handicap under Callum Rodriguez, who completed a double when steering El Picador to victory.
