It has been something of a summer of change in personnel at Seven Barrows with legendary head lad Albert 'Corky' Browne declaring after his glorious innings and assistant trainer Toby Lawes leaving to set up on his own.

"Corky has finally retired after 41 years, and 3,200 winners have left the yard under his watch," said Nicky Henderson, in charge of an operation that is among the most admired and respected in the sport.

"It's been fantastic, but we still see lots of him and we had the whole thing in place ready for this. It's been a seamless changeover and we've a really strong team of people who have worked under him for a number of years.

"They've been primed for this moment for some time and it's not a job for one person anyway, it never really was.

"Charlie Morlock is still around and vitally important, and replacing Toby is James Standen, who was with us a few years ago and did a bit of travelling, learning more about the game.

"Billy Aprahamian, who won the Grand Military Gold Cup for us on Baden last year, has also joined as another assistant, while Katie Croft, Dave Fehily, Sarah Shreeve, Richard Nicholas and Robin Land are other key members of the team, as are Carolyn Harty and Susanna Wyatt in the office."

Nico de Boinville, Jerry McGrath and James Bowen will continue as frontline riders and Henderson hopes a conditional can establish himself this season.
