'An unbelievable result': O'Brien watches son's victory on laptop in Kentucky
A delighted Aidan O'Brien watched his son Donnacha's Qipco 2,000 Guineas triumph on Saxon Warrior on owner Derrick Smith's computer screen in Louisville, Kentucky as they prepared for Mendelssohn's Kentucky Derby bid.
Saxon Warrior, O'Brien's ninth winner of the Newmarket Classic, carries Smith's purple and white colours and, speaking from Louisville on Saturday evening, O'Brien said: "I watched the Guineas on Derrick's computer in our hotel.
"It was an unbelievable result and I'm delighted for Donnacha and for everyone involved with the horse.
"Derrick's wife Gay, their daughter Vivien, her husband Chris and their son Alex were with us and it was fantastic for all of us to watch the race unfold as it did."
