Two big chances of getting on the scoresheet at Meydan
We've got big hopes for Alfredo Arcano and Freescape on Thursday evening. They have picked up valuable place prize-money at the carnival but I’m hoping one, if not both, can break our duck as far as winning is concerned.
Alfredo Arcano has come on a lot from his latest effort here and he goes for the six furlong handicap (3.05). We made no secret about the fact he had a little setback after finishing fourth over course and distance two starts back.
He missed the bones of a week, which meant he was always going to struggle here last time, and I think that run has brought him forward.
He also worked well on Sunday so I'm expecting a bold show, although you couldn't be overly confident as it looks a typically competitive race with some solid sprint handicappers in there.
Freescape has been a bit slower to find his form out here but he's just a big baby and we were delighted with his staying-on performance to snatch third here two weeks ago.
He really does look a picture and everything has gone great with him since so we're looking forward to him in the concluding mile handicap (5.25).
There's a question mark about stepping up to a mile with him and, while I would have liked a better draw, we're going to have to drop him in and hope for the best.
As far as hold-up riders go, they don't come much better than Billy Lee, so it is a major plus that we have the right man in our corner.
It would be something else if we could get on the scoresheet this evening as we've been building towards this for a long time. I couldn't be happier with our two so fingers crossed.
