Trainer questions 'incomprehensible' Arc runner limit as fancied filly faces cut
Connections of Verry Elleegant and La Parisienne were on Tuesday evening facing up to the very real possibility their Arc dreams will be shattered before they even get to the start line after France Galop confirmed the 20-runner limit on runners will be kept for Sunday's big race.
Only three horses came out at the second forfeit stage on Tuesday morning, with the two star mares left just below the cut line based on current ratings.
In a press release, France Galop announced there would be no exemption made to the limit, meaning the lowest-ranked horses will be balloted out in the event more than 20 are declared on Thursday morning, a decision the trainer of La Parisienne labelled "surreal" and "incomprehensible".
