'Tough' Torquator Tasso giving all the right signs in lead-up to Arc defence

Torquator Tasso has bounced out of his surprise defeat in the Grosser Preis von Baden and is pleasing trainer Marcel Weiss in the build-up to the defence of his Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe crown on Sunday week.

A 72-1 winner of Europe's greatest race 12 months ago, the five-year-old son of Adlerflug has gone a long way to backing up that performance with an easy Group 2 win in Hamburg and then a brilliant effort when chasing home Pyledriver in the King George on by far the fastest ground he has encountered.

Paired with Frankie Dettori for the first time at Baden-Baden at the start of the month, he was undone by a farcical early pace and was arguably a little rusty when asked to go and win his race, going down by a head to Mendocino.
