Tote offering global pools to customers for Breeders' Cup meeting

Those looking to bet on the Breeders’ Cup on Friday and Saturday will have the option of getting to grips with global pools offered by the new-look UK Tote Group.

The global nature of the pools are expected to make for extremely strong liquidity, and at last year's meeting the three British-trained winners all paid at bigger odds on the Tote compared to fixed odds.

Customers will be able to bet into US pools for all 14 Breeders' Cup races with Win, Place, Exacta and Trifecta pools available.

In addition, there will be a Quadpot and Placepot available on the Saturday of the meeting. The Placepot will include the last six races on the card, culminating in the Breeders' Cup Classic, while the Quadpot will be made up of the last four races.

This ensures customers are betting into bigger commingled pools.

"All Place pool bets on the Breeders’ Cup will be commingled into US Show pools which declare dividends for horses finishing in the first three places, regardless of the number of runners. We hope it's a great two days of racing for everyone involved.”

International collaboration has been earmarked as a way of potential growth for the Tote by its new owners. Earlier this month the UK Tote Group, the consortium formerly known as Alizeti, completed its takeover.

The strength of worldwide pool betting was evident at Royal Ascot this year with the World Pool which was launched for the first time by the Tote in partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Money invested into all the pools run at the royal meeting totalled £92 million compared with £17m last year, an increase of 440 per cent.
