'It's been such a whirlwind' - Sam Waley-Cohen revels in Grand National glory

If Saturday felt like the realms of fantasy for Sam Waley-Cohen, then the day after was a whirlwind affair as everyone wanted a piece of the Grand National-winning rider, who bowed out of the sport with a fairytale Aintree success on 50-1 shot Noble Yeats.

There was no time for celebrations on Saturday evening either, with the now-retired amateur rider arriving back to his home near Banbury at 11.30pm, having failed to even find time to jump in the shower before leaving the course.

"It's been crazy but there's been lots of goodwill, kindness and great messages," said the 39-year-old, catching his breath before taking a flight to Ireland to join Noble Yeats's Grand National victory parade.
