Strap yourselves in. For nearly 12 hours from the moment the stalls crash open for the first race of the last day of the Flat season in this part of the world, we're going to be bombarded with a psychedelic medley of transatlantic racing.

If it’s savoury National Hunt staples like Messrs Whizzbang, Sceau, Sancy and Solo you’re after, Wincanton is the place for you.

For Flat purists, the season finishes with a bit of a whimper at Doncaster and Naas, so, for something more sweet, heads will inevitably turn Stateside. In all honesty, though, the Breeders’ Cup captures the imagination of floating voters of every hue.
