Enable team have no fears about Longchamp debut after favourite lands stall six

Longchamp should hold no fears for Enable as she bids for a unique double in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, according to Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.

Having won last year’s Group 1 feature at Chantilly, Enable has escaped a potentially debilitating double-figure draw with a favourable slot in stall six.

Enable will be making her first visit to Longchamp, with last year's Arc staged at Chantilly, and Grimthorpe said: “She has gone well round Chester and Epsom and won going right-handed so I don’t see a problem. I don’t think that is an issue.

“Obviously the draw should be helpful but she has got to have the perfect trip through the race as well.”

Reflecting on Enable’s comeback win in the September Stakes, he added: “If we had written the script it wouldn’t have been any different for what she did in her first race since the Arc last year.

“She did everything we could have asked and showed she was back in good shape. It was very encouraging without saying she was a ready Arc winner.

“Everyone has been pleased with her since Kempton and she is very straightforward and in good form.”

Enable was on Thursday a top-priced 11-10 favourite (from 5-4) following her single-figure draw.

The ground is forecast to be no worse than good to soft with the going reading 3.3 yesterday. The Arc stats point to a draw near the inside rail being a bonus, with 11 of the 13 winners on that ground coming out of the lowest six stalls and Sinndar (2000) winning from stall seven.

Salouen has drawn that stall this year and the four-year-old, who gave Cracksman a fright in the Coronation Cup at Epsom in June, has a new rider with Oisin Murphy booked for the general 66-1 chance.

Murphy is seeking his eighth Group 1 win of a sensational year and takes over on the Sylvester Kirk-trained colt from champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa.
