Boudot sweet on Waldgeist as money continues to come for Fabre contender
Punters and connections are warming to the prospects of Waldgeist completing a remarkable transformation with victory in the €5 million Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.
A year on from being turned over at odds-on in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot, Waldgeist will go to post for Europe's most valuable contest as his nation's leading hope, with a ringing endorsement from his big-race jockey, and with euros and pounds aplenty riding on him.
Waldgeist, trained by Arc master Andre Fabre, who has landed the Group 1 contest a record seven times, has been well backed in recent days, and the support continued on Tuesday, with several firms cutting him to 6-1 (from 7).
