Robert Havlin looking forward to first Derby ride on Sevenna Star
Robert Havlin is set for his first Derby ride at Epsom on Saturday on Sevenna Star after the Sandown Trial winner was confirmed a runner alongside his stablemate Roaring Lion in the Investec-backed Classic.
Although he has ridden in the Oaks, Scotsman Havlin has never had a mount in the Derby and is excited by the prospect.
He said: "It's a great privilege to get the ride on Sevenna Star and the softer the better for him.
"It was heavy when I rode him to win his maiden at Windsor and he just galloped them into the ground. It was also on the easy side when he won at Sandown and I'm very much looking forward to the ride."
Gosden said: "I will be running two in the Derby and Rab will ride Sevenna Star. He will probably enjoy the ground more than the Dante winner and we see him as a St Leger type. It's not ideal ground to be staging top-class racing on and I'm sure they'll come stands' side there on Friday as the rail will be out."
Gosden also has Cracksman in the Group 1 Investec Coronation Cup on Friday. He said: "Cracksman is in good shape and thankfully he goes on any ground, whether it's soft or good to firm."
