ITV Racing Tips

Racing Post expert, Stuart Redding, makes his selections for the two English classics on Saturday, to help you find more winners.

Epsom Oaks Tip

Aidan O'Brien and John Gosden have shared the last six renewals and are set tO dominate again, with the Irish filly LOVE fancied to come out on top. The daughter of Galileo had to settle for third behind Quadrilateral on her final start as a juvenile in the Fillies' Mile but she looked the outstanding filly of her generation when reappearing in the 1,000 Guineas, surging over four lengths clear when Ryan Moore asked her to seal victory. With sisters Flattering and Peach Tree both successful over this trip or further, there is no reason why she shouldn't be equally effective tackling 1m4f for the first time. (Stuart Redding)

Epsom Derby Tip

This may be an unconventional renewal of the World's greatest race but I fully expect a familiar name to come out on top, With Aidan O'Brien's MOGUL my fancy. The son of Galileo ran exclusively over 1m as a juvenile and looked a real Derby prospect when landing a Leopardstown Group 2 in September, keeping out of trouble on the outside and easily leaving behind his rivals in the closing stages. Switching the Vertem Futurity to the all-weather probably didn't suit at Newcastle in November and he also had excuses at Royal Ascot as he looked badly in need of the run. He should be a totally different proposition with that run under his saddle. (Stuart Redding)

Race 1 - 2.25 Epsom

Ready preference is for SAFE VOYAGE, who usually competes at a higher level nowadays, ran very well in a better-contested Listed race than this one last time and who will have good prospects if the ground isn't lightning quick. Shine So Bright would be a very worthy opponent on his best 2019 form but he has now finished last in his two most recent starts so the main danger to the selection may be that admirable performer Oh This Is Us.

Race 2 - 2.40 Haydock

It didn't take long for David O'Meara to get a good run out of SHELIR and this ex-Irish Listed winner is selected to strike at the third time of asking for his new trainer. Alternative Fact has returned in fine form and is likely to give another good account of himself, while Barossa Red is also much respected having produced the two clear best efforts of his career over this C&D on soft/heavy.

Race 3 - 3.00 Epsom

The one to appeal most is IRONCLAD, who is on a fair mark on last summer's form and has the profile - very well bred and lightly raced 4yo - of a potential improver this season. This is a good prize to win so it is worth taking the chance that he is fully primed for this seasonal return. Data Protection has plenty going for him too and may be next best ahead of runaway Newmarket winner Desert Icon. Others for the shortlist include Johnny Drama and Caradoc.

Race 4 - 3.40 Epsom

Aidan O'Brien and John Gosden have dominated this race in recent years and they again have a very strong hand, spearheaded by 1,000 Guineas heroine Love and Ribblesdale winner Frankly Darling. Those two fillies are highly respected but Ribblesdale runner-up ENNISTYMON makes plenty of appeal at bigger odds and is taken to build on that excellent effort at Royal Ascot, where she posted strong closing sectionals from a difficult position off a steady pace.

Race 5 - 3.50 Haydock

Given this week's rain a chance is taken on SACRED BELIEF. She showed just minor promise at Lingfield on last month's debut but the dam's side of her pedigree suggests soft ground will suit and that could be a major plus. Poet's Lady ran well on soft ground last year and is therefore feared most, despite several of these probably possessing greater potential, including Declaring Love, Jaaizah and Perfect Inch.

Race 6 - 4.15 Epsom

She may have been below par at Royal Ascot but that was a first encounter with slow ground for CLOAK OF SPIRITS, who holds leading form claims judged on her previous second place in the 1,000 Guineas. Fooraat and Love And Thunder are intriguing, unexposed fillies, particularly the first-named, but Rose Of Kildare may be the main danger following her unlucky third in the German 1,000 Guineas. Sandringham winner Onassis faces a hotter test today but isn't ruled out on the back of that impressive victory.

Race 7 - 4.55 Epsom

After the life-changing events of this spring very few of the runners will have had a perfect preparation and some had hard races at Ascot little more than two weeks ago. English King came through the Lingfield trial in some style and while it's not clear as to what he achieved he at least has no flakey edges to his case. However, MOGUL deserves this chance of redemption as he looked as though he could be out of the top drawer at two and his Ascot defeat behind Pyledriver, when he was not hard pressed following an unsatisfactory preparation, can be viewed tolerantly. Mohican Heights sped past Mogul to finish just ahead in third but he looked to have a harder race, while Russian Emperor also had to get out of his comfort zone when winning at the same meeting. The step up to 1m4f should suit the latter but Guineas winner Kameko hasn't always been amenable to restraint at 1m and, like Vatican City, is going into the blue yonder over 1m4f.
