Still scope for impressive Baaeed to improve rating over longer trip at York

Baaeed did not need to be at his best to win the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday, although he still produced one of the best recent performances in the race.

After posting his best Racing Post Rating (131) when winning the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, a figure of 126 was enough to see him score comfortably in a race which, Baaeed aside, was below par.

His performance still ranks highly among recent winners, Mohaather in 2020 and Toronado in 2013 the only ones to better his mark during the last ten years.
