Charlie Deutsch excelled in what was another hugely competitive running of a race steeped in history, with great horses and some great riding performances (I thought the winning jockey in 2014 was especially good!).

The jostling for a prominent early position while rounding the bend can produce quite a frenetic early pace. Tom Scudamore got a good start from an inside slot and set out to repeat the tactics which worked so well the previous year on Cloth Cap.

They took the field along at a good gallop with his quick style of jumping and, with just the right amount of Tom's aggression, they had the runners nicely strung out.
