Responsible for ten of the first eleven home last year, Irish-based runners occupied seven of the first nine finishing positions this time around and this is a trend that looks set to continue.
Although not the only novice to win the race in the past decade, Noble Yeats, having only his eighth start over fences, was nowhere near as experienced as the 2016 winner Rule The World. Racing off the same mark as when finishing down the field in last month's Ultima, Robert Waley-Cohen's shrewd purchase was not obviously well treated.
