Considering Colin Tizzard's horses weren't firing on all cylinders at last year's Cheltenham Festival it was extremely heartening to see Lostintranslation run so well in defeat in the Gold Cup and he rates the biggest threat to Al Boum Photo's crown in 2021.

With the Tizzard team planning on running him in the Betfair Chase and King George prior to his March target, there should be points to be won with him.

Given that the Savills Chase and Irish Gold Cup are bonus races in the staying chase division, Henry de Bromhead ace Minella Indo also looks a rock-solid candidate to include.

Paul Nicholls was hit hard by the news that Topofthegame will miss the entire campaign this week, but Clan Des Obeaux, who is on course to attempt a King George VI Chase hat-trick, looks an able deputy for the Ditcheat handler. He's likely to start his season in the Betfair Chase and will be able to pick up valuable points early in 2021 when most other horses are on the Gold Cup trail - he surely won't be going anywhere near Cheltenham in March based on his previous attempts in the blue riband event.

Morgiana Hurdle market leader Saint Roi has all the tools to be a leading Champion Hurdle candidate come March and should be factored into calculations, as well as the same owner's Epatante, who has the potential to mop up valuable Grade 1 points in the Fighting Fifth and Christmas Hurdle.

Chacun Pour Soi is probably the most talented two-mile chaser in training but given how lightly raced he's been in recent years it could be worth taking a chance on proven stalwart Altior and up-and-coming prospect Greaneteen. The last named looks to have Tingle Creek Chase written all over him after his Haldon Gold Cup win.

Paisley Park is on a retrieval mission this season but still looks the standout in a weak staying hurdle division, while it's pretty much impossible to get away from the unbeaten Envoi Allen after his seamless transition to chasing.

His stablemate Felix Desjy, a ready winner on his sole start over fences, could also develop into an Arkle contender and can pick up points in top company along the way.
