FOLLOWING last week’s news that Romford is to stage open racing on Wednesday nights, Dunstall Park has also announced an expanded midweek programme to coincide with Sky Sports Racing’s new dedicated greyhound show The Box Seat.

The Wolverhampton venue will advertise nine opens each week from Wednesday, November 4, with Category Three heats and finals operating on a rolling basis alongside sprint, standard and stayers’ contests.

Racing manager Martin Seal said: “Having a consistent open-race schedule with Category Three finals programmed every week will no doubt appeal to trainers and connections,” he said.

“We’re pragmatic and flexible, and will adapt the schedule to suit demand where possible – including staging marathon races.”

Category Three finals will offer £500 to the winner and £100 for others; heat winners will pick up £300. Minor opens will carry a £350 winner’s prize and £100 for others, with maiden events worth £325 to the winner and £80 for others.
