Ahh, 1995. Three-day Cheltenham. Simpler times.

A quick shuffle back to that year's festival brings back golden moments. A first winner for Willie Mullins – at 25-1 – with Tourist Attraction in the Supreme, as Alderbrook, still an entire, took the Champion Hurdle and a young Rough Quest landed the old Ritz Club at 16s. There was Viking Flagship, Dato Star, and Brief Gale downing Harcon on the Wednesday, with Dorans Pride, Master Oats and, a massive personal favourite, the bonny chestnut Coulton, to close things out.

Let's stop there. The purpose of a trawl back at the action from 30 years ago was really for numbers, not names, and how the background of Cheltenham winners has changed. 1995 was an incredible year for British breeders, with 12 out of the 20 winners produced on home soil.
