The Brexit Party are 7-1 from 9-1 to gain most seats at the next general election after they were the top party in the European Parliamentary elections.

The fledgling organisation gained 29 MEPs, while the Liberal Democrats and Greens also made major gains as the Conservatives and Labour struggled.

The Lib Dems had one MEP previously but now have 16 after taking 20.3 per cent of the vote behind the Brexit Party's 31.6.

Labour lost half of their 20 seats and the Conservatives have only four, having held 19 previously. The Greens added three seats to reach seven and the SNP gained one to hold three.

The Brexit Party's total of 29 is a gain of five on the 24 that Ukip held at the last European poll, all of which they lost.

Nigel Farage's latest vehicle are 4-11 to win the Peterborough by-election on June 6, with Labour 3-1 and the Conservatives 33-1.

Labour had been favourites to gain most seats at the next general election before their latest flop at the polls under Jeremy Corbyn but they have drifted to 5-4, the same price as the Conservatives, with the Lib Dems 33-1.

It's 9-5 that the next general election will be this year, although neither the Tories or Labour should be in a rush to get to the polls again as voters turned away from the traditional big two parties in their droves.

It's still a 1-6 chance that there will not be a second EU withdrawal referendum and 7-2 that there will be.

Another no-confidence vote in the Government in 2019 is 4-9 as it seems likely that one would be on the cards as soon as the Conservatives have chosen Theresa May's replacement as Prime Minister.
