France shocked the basketball world by beating the USA in their opening group game, but the Czech Republic were 22 points up on Iran before winning 84-78 and they are unlikely to ease up in this key clash.

Boxing

From 9am Wednesday

Macclesfield's Karriss Artingstall is progressing nicely in the featherweight division and will be first on in today's late boxing session when she takes on Australia's Skye Nicolson in the quarter-finals.

The 26-year-old has already seen her way past Sadie Kenosi of Botswana and Brazil's Jucielen Romeu to reach the last eight and she is 5-1 for the gold medal.

Italy's Irma Testa was 5-4 for the crown before the quarter-final stage.

Meanhile, super-heavyweight Frazer 'The Eraser' Clarke will be looking to follow in Audley Harrison's footsteps when the 2018 Commonwealth Games champion begins his campaign against Ukrainian Tsotne Rogava.

Men's gymnastics

All-round final, 11.15am Wednesday

Joe Fraser, who was eighth in the world championships three years ago, and James Hall go for glory for Great Britain in the quest to be the best gymnast on the planet but the pair look to up against it.

Japan's Kohei Uchimara will not be defending the championship he won in Rio five years ago as the home favourite has elected to concentrate on the high bar.

This means Russia's Nikita Nagornyy, who won three world titles invcluding the all-round title at the worlds, is likely to be the man to beat.

Women's canoeing

WC1 Slalom, 6am Thursday

Windsor's Mallory Franklin won the C1 canoe slalom at the 2017 World Championship and will have high hopes of making a strong medal challenge.

The 27-year-old, who has won nine world championship medals, is 7-1 to claim the gold medal although she faces strong competition in the form of Australian Jessica Fox, who won a silver in London and a bronze at Rio in the K1 class and is 8-13 for gold this time.
