Three things to watch out for in the Olympic Games on Tuesday.

Former Yankees ace Masahiro Tankaa will be pitching alongside Tomoyuki Sugano, who will soon be in MLB, and their roster is easily the strongest on show.

Cycling time trials

Women's 3am Wednesday, men's 6am Wednesday

After thrilling road races over the weekend the time trials take centre stage in the cycling, and Annemiek van Vleuten is 9-2 to overcome the disappointment of her silver medal on Sunday.

Van Vleuten, who mistook her silver-place finish for first after failing to realise Anna Kiesenhofer was a lone leader way ahead in the distance, will have to get the better of Chloe Dygart and Anna van der Breggen who are both available at 11-10 in what looks a threeway contest.

There are 423 metres of climbing for the men and it could be the survival of the fittest after Saturday's road event race was raced in difficult conditions.

Wout van Aert, who bagged silver, heads the market at 6-4 with world champion Filippo Ganna seen as his biggest threat at 3-1. Geraint Thomas is available at 100-1.

Women's hockey

Wednesday from 2am

Great Britain and Ireland continue their bid to qualify from Group A with crucial matches against India and Germany.

The Germans, 2-1 winners over GB on Sunday, take on an Irish side who were heavily beaten 4-0 by Netherlands last time out.

Team GB recovered from the Germany setback to see off South Africa 4-1 and face a Indian side still looking for their first point.

Men's baseball

Wednesday from 4am

Baseball is back. Thirteen years after it was dropped from the Olympic schedule it returns, although it won't be played in Paris four years from now either, and this is something off a one-off for baseball-mad Japan.

The hosts, ranked number one in the world, have been well backed to see off the threat of USA, who are without their MLB players, South Korea, dangerous dark horses Dominican Republic, Mexico and rank outsiders Israel.

Japan have paused their domestic season for the main event.
