The ultra-consistent Bartosz Zmarzlik was crowned world champion for the third time in Sweden two weeks ago, but even though the sport's biggest prize has already been decided with a round spare, there is still plenty to fight for in the remaining medal positions as the series concludes with the Torun Grand Prix in Poland.

Zmarzlik’s nearest pursuer Leon Madsen has a hefty 17-point cushion back to the chasing pack and will secure the silver medal barring a miracle, while any one of six riders has a realistic chance of clinching bronze.

Robert Lambert is one of those riders and he looks worthy of an each-way wager on Saturday night with plenty in his favour.

The Brit started the season slowly but has improved by leaps and bounds as the series has progressed.

A mistake in the semi-final at the last round in Malilla cost Lambert a hat-trick of Grand Prix final appearances but he’ll surely be eyeing a return to the podium at his home track.

The 2020 European Champion has raced for Torun in the Polish league for the past two seasons and boasts an impressive average of 2.33 points per heat around the Marion Rose Motoarena this term.

He finished a highly respectable sixth in both events staged in Torun last year but is a much more accomplished rider now and can end the season on a high.

Tai Woffinden and Maciej Janowski have endured topsy-turvy campaigns but boast an excellent record at this venue and can be expected to feature prominently.
