Story so far

The 3M Open leaderboard has chopped and changed over the first three rounds but it's in-form Cameron Tringale who has found his way to the top of the pile heading into the decisive final chapter.

Tringale, who has never won a PGA Tour event, boasts a one-shot lead over former US Open champion Gary Woodland and Maverick McNealy, who is among the best maidens on the US circuit.

A host of players are just two shots behind the leader and all have the chance to claim TPC Twin Cities glory.

Leaderboard
-12 Cameron Tringale
-11 Gary Woodland, Maverick McNealy
-10 Pat Perez, Cameron Champ, Jimmy Walker, Charl Schwartzel, Chez Reavie, Jhonattan Vegas, Roger Sloan, Ryan Armour

-8 Keith Mitchell, Louis Oosthuizen, David Lingmerth, Bo Hoag, Troy Merritt, Adam Hadwin

Final-round preview

Cameron Tringale has generally been acquitting himself well in 2021 and, in a weak field, it's no great surprise to see him thriving at TPC Twin Cities.

However, the long-time PGA Tour pro remains a maiden and is sure to feel the nerves with a large chasing pack in close attendance on a golf course where low scores are achievable. He makes no appeal at the odds and, if a maiden is to win, then it may be McNealy who chases him down.

The Californian has done little wrong in Minnesota over the first three days and was particularly solid on Friday and Saturday with his only bogey coming after he suffered a one-stroke penalty in round two.

McNealy, who ranks third in strokes gained tee-to-green at the 3M, can get the better of twoball rival Pat Perez, who is 146th in final-round scoring average this season. McNealy, in contrast, is 16th.

Cameron Champ remains a fine talent and can be backed to shoot lower than Jimmy Walker, who has played well at Twin Cities but is prone to a final-round shocker.

Champ, blessed with colossal length off the tee, appears to have rectified the poor putting that has held him back in recent months and another solid flat-stick display should see him go close.
