Clare v Limerick

Sunday, 2pm, Cusack Park

Limerick’s unbeaten run ended at home to Cork last weekend and they will be hoping to quickly bounce back to winning ways against a Clare side who were narrow winners over Wexford.

Cusack Park has been a fortress for this Clare team, as Limerick know all too well following their shock defeat there in the Munster championship last summer.

Clare were in command for much of their clash with Wexford last weekend and led by 13 points after 50 minutes, before allowing Wexford back into the game late on.

Limerick had the opposite experience last weekend, trailing Cork for much of the game before drawing level in the 66th minute, but they failed to see it out and ended on the losing side.

There’s usually little in it when these teams meet and that’s likely to be the case again. Aaron Gillane’s return to the Limerick side is key but Clare have more to play for given that, unlike Limerick, they have not yet guaranteed their spot in the knockout stages, and that may just edge it for them.

Recommendation
Draw or either team to win by one, two or three points
2pts 4-5 Ladbrokes

Cork v Tipperary

Sunday, 2pm, Pairc Ui Rinn

Cork welcome Tipperary to Pairc Ui Rinn following a top-class result against Limerick last weekend. They dominated the All Ireland Champions and will be keen to push on again following their slow start in the league.

After a poor showing in the opening round against Kilkenny, Clare looked a completely different side against Limerick and will be confident of overcoming an out-of-form Tipperary side .

A home tie against Kilkenny last weekend seemed the perfect catalyst to kick Liam Sheedy’s side into gear, but they completely failed to fire, epitomized by Seamus Callanan’s missed frees.

While they were probably unlucky to lose - Eoin Murphy’s 75th-minute point snatched victory for Kilkenny – they will be disappointed with at scoring just 15 points from play.

Sheedy’s second tenure as Tipperary manager has started poorly and they now find themselves bottom of the league, with just one win on the board and it’s likely to stay that way.

Cork have started to get going in the league, and while Limerick certainly didn’t play to their potential last week, John Meyler’s men were impressive with Patrick Horgan and Aidan Walsh looking extremely dangerous in the inside line.

Recommendation
Cork
2pts 4-5 Paddy Power

Wexford v Kilkenny

Sunday, 2pm, Innovate Wexford Park

Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford side almost snatched victory in Ennis last Sunday and they now welcome Kilkenny to Wexford Park for the last round of the league.

This is sure to be a game that has been in the back of Davy’s mind all winter and hewill be keen for his side to put on a big show in front of the home crowd.

Wexford have shown glimpses of the quality hurling they can play in this campaign, but against Kilkenny they’ll need to show it for 70 minutes.

Just two weeks ago Kilkenny were beaten heavily by Limerick on home soil but their reaction last weekend must be admired.

However, they are still struggling without their talisman TJ Reid. Against Limerick, Kilkenny struggled to get scores and last weekend, scored just nine points from play which is just not enough.

Wexford however had 12 different scorers last Sunday, which is a great spread and shows the ability they have around the field. If they can make that pay, and bring a battle to Kilkenny, they could be difficult to beat on home soil.
