Dublin v Mayo

RTE2, 7.30pm Saturday

The air of invincibility that followed Dublin everywhere they went for most of the last decade has long gone, but the demise of the Dubs has been overplayed and they played better than they got credit for at Austin Stack Park in round two.

Kerry won that game convincingly on the scoreboard - 1-15 to 0-11 - but it was the scoring spree before half-time, which yielded 1-9 without reply, that separated the sides. Dublin had played particularly well prior to that and finished out the game quite nicely too with the aid of the elements.

There were seven points between the sides at the final whistle, but Kerry didn't look seven points better than Dublin. Who knows what would have happened had Dean Rock's first half goal not been belatedly disallowed?

Dublin are a team in transition but they should be much shorter in the market for the visit of Mayo, especially when you take into consideration the fact that the Connacht boys have not beaten Dublin in the league at Croke Park since 1971.

Oisin Mullin comes back into the Mayo side but manager Hames has named only seven of the team who began the All-Ireland semi-final extra-time victory over Dublin in his starting line-up. Beating the Dubs without Cillian O'Connor and Tommy Conroy is a massive ask Mayo don't look up to it.

It is quite an inexperienced full-forward line with Aiden Orme and Paul Towey flanking Ryan O'Donoghue and the Dublin defence won't find life as difficult as they did against David Clifford and Paul Geaney.

Dublin will welcome back a few more experienced heads for the visit of Mayo and Dessie Farrell needs a win to ensure they won't get dragged into a relegation dogfight.

The hosts are 5-6 to win by two points or more and that looks outstanding value, as does the same price for them to score 17 points or more.

Armagh v Monaghan

BBC iPlayer & BBC Sport NI website, 5.30pm Saturday

Armagh have been the success story of the league so far but Monaghan look overpriced at 2-1 to bring them back down to earth.

Monaghan drew with All-Ireland champions Tyrone in round one and, but for the brilliance of goalkeeper Rob Hennelly, they would have won their second round showdown with Mayo. They were the better team in that one.

Armagh are a coming force but Monaghan have been dining at the top table for some time now and they have some classy forwards capable of causing Armagh problems. They look decent value to grab maximum points.
