Reading have won two more games and three more points than Sheffield United, so have to have a chance of bettering the Blades at home.

Since their points deduction, the Royals have shown real fight to come from behind and win at Birmingham, and come from behind and draw against Nottingham Forest.

Their injury woes are easing and they have lost only three times this term in front of their own fans.

United, meanwhile, continue to struggle and it's a lack of potency in front of goal which is proving to be their downfall. Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Coventry – a result Coventry fully deserved – means United are without a win in four.

At the very least Reading are worth backing to win either half, something they have done in ten of 18 matches this season.
