Match preview
Manchester United have won three away matches in a row to lift their spirits considerably but a trip to the seaside may not bring much fun for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side at Bournemouth.
Solskjaer was struggling prior to the hat-trick of road triumphs at Partizan Belgrade, Norwich and Chelsea which have enhanced United's position in three competitions, following a morale-boosting 1-1 draw against league leaders Liverpool.
However, this is still basically the same side who had been receiving stick for a sustained period of average performances and the Cherries look a fair pick to land an upset.
This United side lost at home to Palace and away to West Ham and Newcastle, and drew at Wolves, Southampton and AZ Alkmaar, the last of which saw the Red Devils fail to land a shot on target.
Anthony Martial's recent return from injury does boost the attacking ranks and Marcus Rashford must be full of confidence after his double at Chelsea in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. His winner was a stunning free-kick strike after he opened the scoring with a penalty.
Solskjaer decided to play a near full-strength side at Stamford Bridge and was rewarded with progress and a quarter-final tie at home to Sky Bet League Two Colchester.
However, it also came at a cost with Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire picking up injuries which mean they have not trained since, while even those who came through unscathed must quickly recover for a swift turnaround.
Bournemouth had a free midweek which should be an advantage and it has allowed boss Eddie Howe plenty of time to come up with a plan to stifle United and find a path to goal.
The Cherries have been far more conservative in recent weeks with successive 0-0 draws following a 1-0 loss at Arsenal.
One criticism of Bournemouth in recent seasons has been their gung-ho nature but at least that seems to have been rectified.
Young keeper Aaron Ramsdale has stepped up and centre-back Nathan Ake and left-back Diego Rico are in good nick.
The midfield protection has improved since Philip Billing joined the robust Jefferson Lerma and it's just a case of Howe's attacking unit rediscovering their finishing touch.
Their task would be assisted if Lindelof or Maguire can't pass late fitness tests and, even if they make it, Callum Wilson and Joshua King can provide United with a thorough test.
Howe will be hoping for more from his wingers but if one of Ryan Fraser, Harry Wilson or Arnaut Danjuma can provide a spark it is unlikely to be an easy 90 minutes for United.
Key stat
Both teams have scored in six of the eight Premier League meetings between the teams.
