Match preview

Stuttgart host Bochum as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga 2 season.

The hosts lost their place in the top flight of German football last season after losing a relegation playoff on away goals to Union Berlin, having finished 16th in the Bundesliga.

They will be looking to bounce straight back up and have made a very promising start under new manager Tim Walter.

Stuttgart have picked up eight points from their opening four games and go in search of a third home win of the campaign.

The visitors finished 11th in the second tier last season and have made a terrible start as they sit second bottom without a win.

Manager Robin Dutt was sacked on Monday and the side he has left are unlikely to have enough to upset Stuttgart, who are favourites to win the league.

The sale of Benjamin Pavard to Bayern Munich generated significant revenue for Stuttgart who have strengthened their squad with defender Pascal Stenzel and midfielder Philipp Klement.

The last meetings between the sides in this division came in the 2016-2017 season and although both matches finished 1-1, Stuttgart's superior squad means they are unlikely to be held to a draw.

The home side have won 14 of their last 17 home games in this division and should be far too strong for a Bochum side who haven't won any of their last 10 away league games.
