Match preview

Real Madrid were sloppy and lacked urgency in their Champions League defeat to Manchester City and a repeat of such a performance would not end well in the latest edition of El Clasico.

The capital club spent long periods without the ball against the Citizens and they could be a touch fatigued for their clash with Barcelona.

The Catalan side could only draw 1-1 with Napoli in their Champions League assignment but they controlled the game and should take confidence from their run of four successive La Liga wins, including a 5-0 drubbing of Eibar last week.

Lionel Messi bagged four goals in that game and the diminutive Argentinian's form is usually a good indication of the mood around the team. Backing Barcelona with the insurance of the draw no bet could be a shrewd punt.

Insights

  • Real Madrid have won once in their last five matches in all competitions.
