Maritimo are in freefall having failed to reach 90 minutes in front in any of their last 12 matches in all competitions.

The Madeirans have scored a league-low seven goals in their 12 Primeira Liga outings this term, and that has to be a concern as they host a Benfica side who have conceded just once in winning their last three league matches.

Benfica saw their run of four championship wins ended as they fell seven points short of Porto last season. They ended the weekend only fourth in the Portuguese table but just four points off the pace.

The Lisbon lads will be determined to keep the pressure on the leading teams and it's no surprise they are heavy favourites to bag all three points away from home.

Maritimo aren't without hope. They have taken four points from the last two meetings between the teams in Funchal and they dragged themselves out of the relegation zone by drawing with similarly poor Feirense last time.

But they are in a real scoring slump with their fans having cheered just one goal in their last four home league games.

Benfica, meanwhile, have found the net at least three times in five of their last ten away matches in all competitions.

A win to nil looks the most likely outcome, and a bet on a 3-0 scoreline in Benfica's favour is worth a punt.
