Lyon recorded a league double over Nantes last season and the Ligue 1 powerhouses can maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign with victory at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

Lyon thumped the Canaries 6-0 on their visit to western France last term and the lively front four of Memphis Depay, Bertrand Traore, Mariano Diaz and Nabil Fekir could simply blow the hosts away.

The visitors finished 18 points off the pace last term but much better is expected from Bruno Genesio’s troops this season and they have started the campaign in full force.

Genesio's men have picked up seven points from their opening three games, notching nine times in the process, and Nantes may struggle to keep their vibrant side at bay.

Lyon threw away a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Bordeaux last weekend but the first-half red card of Spaniard Sergi Darder didn’t help their cause and the form should be taken lightly.

Diaz has notched three times since arriving from Real Madrid and is a nuisance for defenders, while tricky youngster Fekir continues to impress and has chipped in with three goals from his wide berth.

Nantes finished a respectable seventh last term but they were the only side in the top half to lose more games than Lyon and their record against elite opposition in uninspiring.

The hosts picked up only one point from a possible 24 against top-four sides last term and they have an awful record against Lyon to overcome.

Claudio Ranieri has since taken over the reins but Nantes have won just two of their last 14 meetings with Lyon and there is little their master tactician can do from the sidelines.
