Rennes v Paris Saint-Germain

8pm

Rennes beat PSG in the French Cup final last season and pushed them close in a 2-1 Super Cup defeat more recently, so could be a value bet to at least get on the scoresheet in their league meeting.

The capital club breezed past Nimes 3-0 in their opening match of the season and, even if Neymar does depart this summer, they have plenty of firepower in the final third.

Both teams scored in 24 of Rennes's 38 league matches last season and that could be the best bet in this early-season encounter.

Recommendation
Both teams to score
2pts 7-10 bet365

Key stat
Both teams found the net in 12 of PSG's 19 away matches last term.

Reims v Strasbourg

4pm

Strasbourg's start to their Ligue 1 campaign risks being disrupted by their Europa League duties and defeat could be on the cards at Reims.

The visitors progressed beyond the second qualifying round of the continental competition and sandwiched between the two legs of the third qualifying round was a 1-1 draw with Metz.

Reims, meanwhile, started their campaign with a shock 2-0 win over Marseille in a match which saw them defend well and muster more shots on target.

Recommendation
Reims
1pt 21-20 general

Key stat
Eight of Reims's 13 league victories last season came on home soil.

Saint-Etienne v Brest

2pm

Newly-promoted Brest's conceded 35 goals in Ligue 2 last season, which was relatively high for a club who finished in the top two, and they could struggle to keep tabs on Saint-Etienne's attacking players.

Only PSG (53) and Lille (43) collected more points at home than Saint-Etienne (41) last season and they can build on their 2-1 win away to Dijon on the opening day of the season.

Recommendation
St-Etienne -1 goal on handicap
1pt 17-10 BoyleSports, Coral, Sky Bet

Key stat
St-Etienne failed to score in only four of their 19 home league matches last season.
