Match preview

Lazio head into their derby clash with Roma fresh from smashing Sampdoria 3-0 in the opening game of the season.

Simone Inzaghi's side are looking to pick up from last year's Coppa Italia success and Inzaghi, the second longest-serving manager in the league, has kept faith with the majority of last year's squad.

Star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic decided to remain at the club despite the interest of some of Europe's big guns, providing a massive boost to Lazio's hopes of Champions League qualification.

Another key player, Ciro Immobile, is a world-class striker on his day. He has hit the ground running this season with a brace against Sampdoria and will again be a threat.

Roma will have to deal with Immobile without the impressive Kostas Manolas as the Greek defender was sold to Napoli over the summer. It is something of a transitional stage for Roma as there has been upheaval on and off the pitch with the departures of club legends Daniele de Rossi and Francesco Totti.

New manager Paulo Fonseca is determined to implement his attacking philosophy even if it leaves them vulnerable at the back. His side conceded three goals against Genoa in their last game and may well ship more in the derby.

Lazio are worthy favourites as their city rivals get to grips with the new regime but four of the last six Rome derbies have seen both sides score.
